Wildflower Triathlon 2009

April 30 to May 5 was our annual Wildflower trip. This year was my first year racing, but Andy has raced for many years before me. I did the mountain bike race that consisted of a .25mile swim, 9.2mile mountain bike, and a 2mile run. Andy did the olympic distance race that consisted of a .93mile swim, 24mile road bike, and a 6mile run. My race was Saturday and his was Sunday so we left Friday so we could camp out and get our race packets. The race was at Lake San Antonio which is about 2.5hrs south of Monterey. It was raining all day and while we set up camp, which was not fun but we got through it. During the night our tent leaked though and that created a mess. But we woke up Saturday to a beautiful day and great race for me. I finished and felt good about it. We relaxed the rest of the day and Sunday had another beautiful day. Andy did well on his race, but his back was hurting from the air mattress we slept on in our tent. We are going back to the sleeping mats we got for our wedding from Mitch & Myrna and family. We get a lot better rest on those. So, after racing and buying things from vendors...I got a new Tri bag and Andy got new running shoes...we headed out to Monterey to stay on the coast for two nights. We do this every year and love it. We got to relax and be lazy. We walked on the beach, got massages, ate good food, and slept. It was a great vacation for us both and I can't wait until the next one. We came back to work and the week went super fast...then we got to spend mother's day with my mom. I got her a teddy bear that sings...its an inside joke but let me just say the grandkids play the music over and over and over and my dad just LOVES it...haha. Now we are working away and training for our next triathlon the first week of june. Then I head to Mississippi for school. I am gone until 29 Jul, and when I return we hope to have an idea of whether we will stay or go to another base. Here are a few pictures.

Look at us go...1st place finish...haha maybe not 1st,
but definitly a strong finish!
